Day 43

Day 43 We did a nice ride, but I forgot to attach the SPOT communicator to track our ride. Too bad as it was about 250 miles and a nice loop. We rode up north on Rt 1 West and took that to Golden where we took RT 95 to Radium Hot Springs where we took RT 93 to Castle Junction and Rt 1 East back to Banff.

We did a short hike at a rest stop to stretch our legs. That area appears to be where a large forest fire occurred some time ago. There was an informational sign at the glacier visitor's center yesterday that said the trees behind the sign were about 150 years old, but they looked maybe 8 to 10 years old. The sign said due to the weather and cold the trees grow very slowly. I would say based on that sign the area of the fire was about 150 years ago except for some of the trees had fallen across the trail and did not look like they burned that long ago.

We passed through 11000 miles on this trip. We booked a sunrise tour to Moraine Lake, since private vehicles are no longer allowed into Moraine Lake. So we will need to be on the bike to ride to the pickup point by 0300.
