Day 51

Day 51 WE just hung out at the rally for the day. We did get longest distance two up award. I also won a bottle of monkey butt powder. We did find a place in route to the rally that sold Palisades Peaches that Rene' enjoyed. So that was it for today. Tomorrow we start for home.

The route we take will depend on the weather which is not looking promising on the possible routes. The route I would like to take is a slight detour from a direct route. The roadway shows as unpaved on the map, but according to the guy who suggested the route, it is freshly paved. He and his friend also said you are riding right on the edge and it is quiet twisty including 1st gear switchbacks. If there is no threat of rain when we get to that point, which I think will be about 2 hours from when we get started, then we will give it a shot. Otherwise we will brave the rain on the secondary route. I say secondary because the original route in the GPS is different. It is different because in designing the route there is a bridge on RT 50 that is close. They are now opening up the bridge from 0630 to 0830 and 1630 to 1830 with a pilot car. We will need to leave by 0600 to make sure we have plenty of time at the crossing. We have to take RT 92, the one we did yesterday which we timed out at about an hour and a half to comfortably do.

We do not have any reservations for lodging from this point on so we go as far as we want and stop when we want from this point on. It could be three days if we really push it (1600 miles from here straight line) or five days as I have planned it out to be.
